“Devin is a great instructor. He knows just the right amount to call on students while still making the classroom a comfortable, encouraging, and challenging environment. Devin is one of my favorite professors that I have had so far at UT because of his ability to keep all of the classwork organized and his willingness to help make sure that all of the students were successful and not overwhelmed.”

Anonymous Student Evaluation, Florida State University
Carlos Devin Fernandez is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Italian at Brooklyn College. He has taught all levels of introductory and intermediate Italian at Florida State University and the University of Texas at Austin, where he has also led smaller discussion groups on Dante.
Devin has been nominated for multiple university-wide awards for outstanding teaching and excellence.
As an instructor of Italian, Devin believes meaningful learning occurs at the intersection of community and individuality, structure and creativity. His teaching is grounded in three principles: to curate a supportive classroom community that values individual learners, to deliver consistent input that is progressive and comprehensible, and to move beyond textbook-centered instruction to foster deeper engagement.
Across all three institutions, student evaluations have consistently commended these approaches, highlighting Devin’s ability to stimulate interest in the material, encourage independent thinking, and generate effective classroom discussion.
